Kona sportfishing with Sea Strike

Meet Captain Dale Leverone

Captain Dale Leverone has been fishing the waters of Kona, Hawaii for more than 35 years, building a lifetime of experience on one of the world’s greatest sportfishing grounds. His passion for the ocean and deep respect for the craft of fishing have made him a trusted guide to countless anglers from around the globe. Known for his calm approach and steady expertise, Dale has dedicated his career to understanding the patterns of Blue Marlin, Yellowfin Tuna, Mahi-Mahi, and other pelagic species that thrive in Kona’s offshore waters.

Over the years, Captain Dale has achieved remarkable milestones that have cemented his place in fishing history. He holds multiple IGFA world and state records, including a legendary 1,166-pound Blue Marlin caught on 50-pound test line—a feat that still inspires anglers today. He is also a past winner of the prestigious Hawaiian International Billfish Tournament (HIBT) and has been featured on ESPN, “Let’s Go Fishing,” and in leading angling publications. These accomplishments highlight not only his skill, but also his ability to put guests in the right place at the right time.

Fishing with Captain Dale is as much about the experience as it is about the catch. Guests quickly find that his knowledge of Kona’s fishing hotspots is matched by his approachable personality and dedication to sharing the thrill of sportfishing. His son, Jack Leverone, has joined him on deck, bringing fresh energy and a natural instinct for the water. Jack earned his own IGFA junior world record for a 547-pound thresher shark and is steadily building his reputation as an emerging guide. Together, this father-and-son team creates a welcoming, family-centered atmosphere on board.
